Sharjah24: FUNN, the Sharjah-based organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting media arts learning among children and youth, led young participants on a creative journey to discover their inner artistes through a series of virtual workshops held recently.
One lucky participant of FUNN was chosen to be enrolled in the annual abroad program and had the privilege of learning the intricacies of filmmaking at New York Film Academy’s online summer camp.

Other film enthusiasts aged 17+ learnt the basics of the filmmaking from an Emirati filmmaker Obaid Alhamoodi at a week-long workshop held in collaboration with the Oman Film & Theatre Society and Al Roya newspaper.

An Instagram live Q&A session with popular young Emirati artist Ali Kashwani, threw light on his creative process and approach to art, and enthused young participants who understood the importance of establishing perfect hand–eye harmony for the creation of art.

Jameela Ahmed gave children aged 6 – 12 years a crash course in stop motion animation. The workshop organised in collaboration with Children Center, not only offered the children a glimpse into the world of animation but also imparted practical lessons on the basics of creating their own stop motion projects.

FUNN also organised a one-day food photography workshop for students/staff of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. Celebrated food photographer Fatma Omar taught participants how to create ideal backdrops for capturing shots of food and beverages, and showed them how to accessorise their sets to create beautiful images.

By popular demand, FUNN organised a Vector Art workshop taught the participants aged 13+ to create graphic art from any image utilising Adobe Illustrator software.
