Sharjah 24: Mohammed Obaid Al Hussan, Board Member of Sharjah Sports Club, Chairman of the Group Games Department, presented the achievements of the club’s teams to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The group games at Sharjah Club have won 7 titles out of 8 competitions and championships they participated in.

Teams of different age groups also reached the finals of the Basketball Championship, which was cancelled by the Basketball Association due to the precautionary measures.

Al Hussan stressed that, “The great support provided by the Sharjah government, Sharjah Sports Council, and the club's board of directors make the club face a great challenge to consolidate its achievements” 

With regard to the next season, he said: “Our strategic plan is based on providing all the requirements for success for all sports teams and on ensuring administrative and technical stability. Attention to age groups is a priority for us, because they represent the future of the club.”

Al Hussan revealed that the Group Games Department has decided to carry on in training age groups for hand and basketballs during the summer vacation to compensate for the long break resulted from the cancellation of all competitions in last season. 

As for external participations, he stressed that the goal is to win the Gulf, Arab and Asian championships. The club was able to win the Gulf Clubs Basketball Championship twice in a row, 2018 and 2019. In the last 3 editions of the Asian Championship, the club won the bronze medal twice in a row.
