SSC concludes 'Iftar' with 10000 participants

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) has concluded with great success the "Sport before Iftar" initiative, which is held for the sixth year in a row in cooperation with the Sharjah’s clubs.
The Council is keen to continue holding sporting and community events during Ramadan, with the aim of spreading sports’ culture, practicing sports before Iftar (breaking fasting), and promoting physical health. About 10,000 of both sexes, from different society segments, ages and nationalities, participated in the initiative in 11 different locations. Eight Clubs participated, in addition to Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation (SWSF). 

His Excellency Eisa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council praised the success of the initiative this year with the distinguished participation of the emirate's clubs and the various segments of society. “All sectors have been so keen to implement the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, under the follow-up of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council.”, he added and noted that the Corona pandemic did not prevent the opportunity for practicing sports, as the events have been organised in various locations in accordance with precautionary and preventive measures, and following the highest standards of safety degrees.

Al Hazami thanked all cooperating parties, most notably of which are Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the municipalities, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and the participating clubs.

Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of Sports and Community Events Department at the Council, stated that, “the initiative achieved its desired goal and has contributed to sport practice at all times, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan. He also praised the interaction of the participants from various segments and groups of society.”

The initiative has played an important role in promoting sports tourism in various sites and cities in the emirate of Sharjah.
