Hungarian cake shop serves up sweet COVID shots

Sharjah24 – Reuters: A Hungarian pastry shop has launched a range of COVID-19 vaccine-themed sweet mousses as a light-hearted antidote to angst over the different types of vaccines.
"Here people have a choice, there is no registration" confectioner Katalin Benko said as she filled grapefruit-flavoured jelly into a syringe and placed it on top of a glass filled with mousse.

There are no side effects except a smile on customers' faces, she added, saying that the shop was not making an argument either way for COVID vaccination.

Vaccines in the cake shop are filled with jellies in different colours and flavours: the Sinopharm mousse is sweet and sour, the yellow AstraZeneca is flavoured with lemon, while Pfizer tastes of matcha tea.

Customers in the town of Veresegyhaz, northeast of the capital Budapest, said they were happy with the vaccine they got, both the real jab and the tasty version.

Vaccination in Hungary is based on registration and started with elderly people. People are offered a vaccine based on their age and medical history.

In recent weeks, thousands of Hungarians have formed Facebook support groups each according to the vaccines they got.

One admin of such group, Gali Erzsebet, said those pages are made to support each other before and after getting vaccinated.
