Sharjah 24: Ashwaq Yousef Al Naqbi, Official of the Eastern Region Office at Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), confirmed that the cities of the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Sharjah are witnessing remarkable prosperity in terms of tourism projects, and in the demand of tourists to the region's destinations.
The Easter Region of the Emirate of Sharjah is witnessing a quantum leap at all levels, and the tourism sector is one of the sectors that the Sharjah government has paid most attention to, with visions, directives and close follow-up from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah 

In statements to “Sharjah 24”, Al Naqbi said that the Eastern Region is full of enormous potentials that the government has worked to implement a package of pioneering tourism projects that have contributed to achieving a qualitative leap in the sector.

Al Naqbi pointed out that the city of Khorfakkan has many tourist destinations, with great potential, which leads to achieving a qualitative leap in tourism.

On the city of Kalba, the Official of the Eastern Region Office at SCTDA indicated that Kalba contains distinguished geographical locations and picturesque nature, which enabled it to be the largest environmental tourism project in the UAE. Al Naqbi noted that Kalba contains a number of nature reserves, and important tourist destinations.

Al Naqbi added that SCTDA is looking with interest to the city of Dibba Al Hisn, which is currently witnessing a package of development projects, and SCTDA is working to include it in its plans to enhance the tourism sector. 

It is worth noting that the Corniche of Dibba Al Hisn Waterway witnessed a great development during the last period, with many service and entertainment facilities. The competent authorities are working on developing the Corniche of Al Hosn Island, in addition to reviving the historic area in the city.

Al Naqbi confirmed the keenness of SCTDA's office in the Eastern Region to work with partners from government departments and entities, in order promote tourism to the landmarks of the Eastern cities, as well as organising field trips for visiting delegations.

Al Naqbi concluded by noting that SCTDA has organised an integrated programme on tourism guidance to enable and qualify young Emiratis to work in the tourism sector.
