Sharjah 24 – Reuters: The only surviving shark model cast for the 1975 Oscar-winning film "Jaws" found its final home this month at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.
The museum unpacked and installed the 1,200-pound (544 kilograms), 25-foot (7.6 meters) model shark, nicknamed "Bruce the Shark", last week.

This model was the fourth and final model derived from the original mold, the museum said in a statement. The first three models, cast in latex and rubber, rotted and were destroyed. Universal Studios Hollywood had the fourth cast in fiberglass and used it for photo opportunities.

The fiberglass model eventually ended up in a junkyard where it would spend 25 years before the museum acquired it in 2016 and hired a special effects and make-up artist to restore the shark.

The museum had to remove two panels of windows so a team could hoist Bruce up with a crane and suspend it 30-feet above the third floor.

The shark and all 116 of its teeth now join an underwater apparatus and fin used in "Jaws" and "Jaws II" in the museum's collection.
