Sharjah 24: keen to protect lives and properties in buildings and facilities in the emirate, the Sharjah Civil Defence (SCD) has started a comprehensive study to assess the efficiency of fire-fighting systems in buildings and facilities, through an evaluation of technical specifications according to the UAE directory for the protection of life and property and their compatibility with existing building regulations.
The aim of the study is to analyse all fire protection and prevention systems and their efficiency over the past 10 years based on technical specifications. The study also aims is to measure the extent of the economic impact on the installation of these systems and the variation in price increase, as well as the high construction costs for investors, developers and building owners, in addition to strengthening the national product and supporting the local market in the event that the specifications are of high quality and are compatible with international regulations. In this context, Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, stated that all concerned with this study will be involved and their technical opinions based on the proposals submitted and the previous opinion polls, will be taken into account. Risk analysis and review of the statistics of previous incidents to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of fire systems in those buildings, will also be considered based on which impact solutions and recommendations will be developed for the future. Al Naqbi thanked all owners of buildings and facilities for their cooperation and keenness to implement fire safety requirements and set safety priorities in buildings as a prerequisite for protecting lives and property.
