Sharjah24: Sharjah Club won both Sharjah Sports Council junior football tournaments for the Under-15 and Under-16 age groups, held from 4 to 11 August with the participation of six clubs: Sharjah, Al Hamriyah, Kalba, Dibba Al Hisn, Khorfakkan and Kuwait’s Al Qadsia.

Sharjah secured the Under-15 title after defeating runners-up Kalba 3-0 in the final. Dibba Al Hisn finished third, while Khorfakkan came fourth.

In the Under-16 tournament, Sharjah again lifted the trophy after beating runners-up Al Qadsia.

The closing ceremony and awards presentation were attended by Mohammed Ali bin Hammad, Director of the Support Services Department and Acting Secretary-General; Imran Al Jasmi, Director of the Sports Affairs and Development Department at the council; and Ibrahim Saif bin Ghafan, Head of the Team Sports Section.

Representatives of Sharjah Club also attended, including Rida Abbas, a member of the club’s football company and supervisor of the youth teams, as well as Abdulrahman Al Haddad, Abdullah Al Zarouni and Abdullah Al Mazmi. They were joined by Rafai Al Deihani, a board member and Assistant Secretary-General of Kuwait’s Al Qadsia Club, along with members of the organising committees for the two tournaments.

Al Jasmi expressed his happiness at the success of the tournaments, saying they had achieved all their objectives. He praised the overall standard of the participating teams and congratulated Sharjah on winning the trophies in both age groups.

He said all the teams had benefited from taking part, both collectively and individually, thanks to the intensity of the competition and the diversity of technical experience. He added that the tournaments provided an ideal preparation for the upcoming sporting season, particularly from a physical perspective, which is usually the primary focus ahead of the start of a new season.

Al Jasmi also praised the high level of sportsmanship among the players and thanked Kuwait’s Al Qadsia Club for taking part and enriching the tournament, noting that the team had produced strong performances that contributed to raising the overall standard of the competition.
