Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, received Dr Mamadou Tangara, High Representative of the African Union Commission (AUC) for Mali and the Sahel, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the African Union in support of peace, stability, and sustainable development efforts in the Sahel region. They also reviewed regional developments and matters of mutual interest.

UAE reaffirms support for African stability efforts

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting African initiatives aimed at enhancing security and stability, in line with the country’s approach of building partnerships with nations and regional organizations to support development and prosperity across Africa.

He praised the African Union’s role in promoting dialogue and regional cooperation, stressing the importance of continued coordination with international partners to address challenges facing the Sahel region.

African Union highlights UAE partnership

Dr Mamadou Tangara expressed appreciation for the UAE’s contributions to development and stability in Africa and praised its partnership with the African Union.

He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in areas of shared interest to strengthen security and advance sustainable development in the Sahel region.
