Sharjah 24 – AFP: India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday following days of youth-led protests demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in major examinations and reforms to the education system.

Thousands of protesters, led by the social media-driven Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), had called for Pradhan’s removal and gathered in New Delhi and other cities. Following his resignation, the group announced that its demands had been addressed and called off the demonstrations.

Resignation details and broader concerns

Pradhan said he submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing concern over the recent events and reaffirming his commitment to supporting India’s youth. The protests, which included clashes with police, also raised wider concerns over unemployment and opportunities for young people.
