Sharjah 24 – QNA: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has strongly condemned the Houthi group's attack on the Saudi vessel ENCELIA, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and the principles governing freedom of maritime navigation.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Albudaiwi said the attack on the Saudi-owned vessel reflects the continued hostile conduct of the Houthi group and poses a serious threat to international shipping routes.

Serious threat to maritime security

He added that the group's ongoing threats against commercial vessels and international maritime corridors represent a dangerous escalation that endangers regional security and stability while undermining global efforts to safeguard maritime waterways and ensure the uninterrupted flow of international trade. He stressed that these actions require a firm international response to deter such irresponsible behavior.

Full solidarity with Saudi Arabia

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom's security, vital facilities, and national interests. He emphasized that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the collective security of all GCC member states.
