The value of the deal was not disclosed, but British media reports said Greek winger Christos Tzolis joined the Gunners for £34 million ($45 million), effectively replacing Belgian forward Leandro Trossard following his move to Turkish club Besiktas.

Arsenal’s third permanent signing

Tzolis becomes Arsenal’s third permanent signing of the current transfer window.

His arrival comes 48 hours after Arsenal failed to sign Morgan Rogers, who joined London rivals Chelsea for £117 million ($157 million), according to reports, in a record deal for a British player.

Rogers, the former Aston Villa player, described Chelsea as “the biggest club in London”.

Impressive record with Club Brugge

Tzolis scored 43 goals in 108 appearances for Club Brugge.

He also featured in the Belgian club’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League last season.

The player also has previous experience in the English Premier League, having represented Norwich City after joining from Greek side PAOK, where he began his career and helped the club win the Greek Cup in May 2021.

Loan spells and Belgian league success

Tzolis later had loan spells in the Netherlands and Germany with Twente and Fortuna Düsseldorf respectively.

He joined Club Brugge in 2024 and helped the team win the Belgian league title last season.

Arsenal’s Italian sporting director, Andrea Berta, welcomed the Greek international, who has made 34 appearances for his national team.

“Christos is a highly versatile attacking player. He is an excellent goalscorer with both feet, thrives in tight spaces and possesses outstanding technical ability,” Berta told the London club’s website.

“Christos has recorded impressive numbers in terms of goals and assists over the past three seasons. We are confident that he will make a significant contribution to our club, and we hope our supporters will enjoy watching him in an Arsenal shirt,” he added.
