The council announced that with 99.7% of ballots counted, De la Espriella secured 49.65% of the vote, enough to clinch victory in the closely contested run-off.

His opponent, Iván Cepeda, the candidate of the ruling left-wing Historic Pact coalition, received 48.7% of the votes.
