Sharjah 24: The Board of Directors of the UAE National Olympic Committee (UAEOC) met in Dubai, chaired by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice-President of the Committee, to assess recent results and future sporting commitments.

The meeting was attended by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, vice-president of the committee and chairman of its executive office, alongside secretary-general Fares Mohammed Al Mutawa and board members.

Recent results reviewed

The Board reviewed the UAE’s performance at the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, where the national team ranked first among Arab nations and seventh overall. It also examined results from the GCC Games in Doha, where the UAE secured 66 medals, including 13 gold.

Key events ahead

Focus turned to preparations for the Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya, the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia in December 2026. The officials emphasised the need for structured training camps and stronger technical preparations.

Digital transformation and governance
The committee also discussed governance compliance, Olympic Solidarity funding oversight, and legal and electoral updates.

Plans for integrating generative artificial intelligence into the committee's operations were also reviewed as part of wider digital transformation efforts.

Los Angeles 2028 planning begins

Early concepts were presented for the UAE’s participation at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, including plans for the UAE House and its logistical framework.

Leadership message
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi stressed the need for early preparations for upcoming competitions and urged federations to strengthen athlete development programmes.

He said recent results were encouraging but below the nation’s ambitions, reaffirming the goal of consistent podium finishes internationally.
