Five killed in illegal mining collapse in southwest China

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Five people were killed and one injured after a collapse occurred during illegal mining activities in Huize County in southwest China's Yunnan Province early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. in Baiwu Village, Nagu Town. Emergency response teams, including public security, firefighting, health and natural resources departments, launched rescue operations and pulled all six trapped individuals from the site.

Five of the victims later died despite medical efforts, while the surviving individual remains in stable condition and is no longer in life-threatening danger. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.
