Sharjah24-WAM: The UAE participated in the 125th meeting of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee, with His Excellency Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini leading the delegation.

The UAE delegation comprised Younis Haji AlKhoori, Ahmed Abdullah bin Lahej Al Falasi, and specialists from the Ministry of Finance.

The meeting addressed several strategic issues concerning GCC financial and economic cooperation, including the outcomes of committees overseeing central banks, the customs union, tax administrations and the GCC Common Market.

Participants also discussed mechanisms to combat harmful international trade practices, to strengthen national industries through customs policy reviews, and to enhance GCC participation in international economic forums.

Al Hussaini said the meeting reflected the GCC countries’ commitment to advancing economic integration and to building a resilient financial and economic system capable of adapting to global changes.

He noted that discussions centred on the GCC Common Market Action Plan for 2026–2028, customs facilitation regulations, and updated frameworks to combat harmful trade practices and protect strategic national industries.

The minister added that progress in free trade agreement negotiations and in Gulf economic unity initiatives demonstrates the growing strength of GCC joint action, grounded in technical studies and international best practices.

During the meeting, participants approved the GCC Common Market Committee’s Action Plan for 2026–2028 and endorsed several committee outcomes, including measures on customs duties and international trade practices.

The meeting also reviewed updates on free trade negotiations between the GCC countries and international blocs, as well as studies and projects related to Gulf economic and development integration.

The Ministry of Finance reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Gulf economic integration and to strengthening the UAE’s role in the GCC Common Market to drive sustainable growth and regional prosperity.
