GCC–European parliament talks boost cooperation

Sharjah24 - WAM: His Excellency Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reviewed on Sunday with a delegation from the European Parliament, headed by Reinhold Lopatka, ways to strengthen partnership and enhance bilateral cooperation between the GCC and the Parliament, in a manner that serves the interests of both sides and supports Gulf–European relations.

Exchanging views on regional developments

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on optimal approaches and proposals to deepen relations. The discussion also addressed regional developments, with members of the European parliamentary delegation reiterating their support for GCC states in light of the recent Iranian attacks against them.

Commitment to growth, security and stability

The Secretary-General stated that GCC countries are committed to strengthening ties with their regional and international partners in ways that promote development, prosperity, security and stability.

Expanding avenues of cooperation

He added that the European parliamentary delegation’s visit to the GCC General Secretariat enhances Gulf–European relations and opens broader avenues for cooperation between the two sides.
