Sharjah 24 – WAM: The United Arab Emirates has completed investigations into an attempt to illegally smuggle military equipment to the Port Sudan Authority. The accused have been referred to the competent judicial authorities, reflecting the UAE’s commitment to safeguarding its territories and preventing illicit activities.

Commitment to preventing illicit activities

The UAE reaffirmed its unwavering stance against the misuse of its territories, ports, or airspace for illegal purposes, including smuggling weapons to warring parties in Sudan or other conflict zones. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasized that strict oversight and compliance with national and international laws remain a priority to maintain security and stability regionally and globally.

Upholding legal and international standards

According to MoFA, the conclusion of the investigation and referral of the accused highlights the vigilance of the UAE’s security and judicial apparatus. The UAE continues to uphold the highest standards in enforcing national laws and relevant international legal frameworks.

Combating illicit arms trafficking

The Ministry stressed the UAE’s firm position against illicit arms trafficking and its active role in combating transnational organized crime. This commitment aligns with international efforts to protect global peace and security, including adherence to UN Security Council resolutions.
