Greece will be the guest of honour at the 44th SIBF, representing the country's close cultural ties with the UAE. More than 250 publishing firms from 118 countries are taking part, in addition to a busy schedule of over 1,200 cultural and entertainment activities for people of all ages, such as poetry evenings and children's theatrical performances.
During the opening ceremony, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said that the fair had been ranked number one among global book fairs for the fifth consecutive year, emphasising its importance on the international cultural map.
Badr Mohammed Saab extended an open welcome to the public to visit SIBF and explore the most recent offers in the field of knowledge and literature.
