SIBF kicks off with "Between You and a Book" theme

Sharjah 24: Badr Mohammed Saab, Director of Government Communications at the Sharjah Book Authority, announced that the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has officially opened with the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This year's fair is themed "Between You and a Book", which emphasises the close interaction between readers and literature.

Global participation and recognition

Greece will be the guest of honour at the 44th SIBF, representing the country's close cultural ties with the UAE. More than 250 publishing firms from 118 countries are taking part, in addition to a busy schedule of over 1,200 cultural and entertainment activities for people of all ages, such as poetry evenings and children's theatrical performances.

A record-breaking accomplishment

During the opening ceremony, Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, said that the fair had been ranked number one among global book fairs for the fifth consecutive year, emphasising its importance on the international cultural map.
