Sharjah24: In a significant development for the emirate's education sector, Arada has announced the award of a major construction contract for the highly anticipated Raffles World Academy – Aljada, marking the emergence of the second school within the vibrant Aljada community. With a substantial construction budget of AED 128 million, the contract has been awarded to Al Rehab Arab Contracting LLC, a local contractor recognised for its commitment to quality.

Strategic location and vision

Nestled in the northwestern corner of Aljada, Raffles World Academy will cater to students from kindergarten through to Grade 12, offering a comprehensive educational journey. The school will cover an expansive 480,000 square feet, conveniently situated near major community hubs and designed to support Aljada's anticipated growth, which is projected to reach 20,000 residents.

With plans to welcome its first students in the 2026-2027 academic year, the academy aims to provide an outstanding curriculum, including the full International Baccalaureate (IB) programme — comprising the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme (CP) — alongside the American High School Diploma. This initiative responds to the increasing demand for high-quality education in the Northern Emirates.

Leadership perspectives

Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, the founding Group Chief Executive of Arada, highlighted the importance of this project, saying, “This contract award highlights our ongoing investment in community infrastructure and our long-term vision to make Aljada a fully integrated destination. We are proud to deliver a second school of exceptional construction quality, offering world-class education to families in Sharjah.”

Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, remarking, “We’re delighted to be on track to open our first school in Sharjah, offering the full IB programme aligned with Raffles World Academy’s standards in Dubai, alongside the American Diploma. The school will empower students through a holistic, rigorous education that prepares them for success in a rapidly changing world.”

Prime location on West Boulevard

The academy will be situated on the busy West Boulevard, Aljada's newest main street, which is expected to enhance the community's lively atmosphere, following the success of East Boulevard, lined with more than 100 shops, cafés, and eateries.

World class facilities

Raffles World Academy – Aljada will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including two swimming pools, a full-sized football pitch, an athletics track, temperature-controlled gyms, basketball and tennis courts, specialised learning studios, a large theatre, and a modern library—ensuring a rich academic and extracurricular experience.

Aljada’s broader vision

To date, Aljada has completed 30% of its ambitious plan to deliver 25,000 homes alongside a range of leisure, retail, and educational facilities, including SABIS International School – Aljada and the impressive Madar family entertainment complex designed by the renowned Zaha Hadid Architects.

Spanning over 24 million square feet, Aljada is set to transform Sharjah’s urban landscape, aiming to be the largest mixed-use development in the emirate's history. The community will feature lush green spaces, state-of-the-art hospitality and healthcare facilities, and the upcoming Arada Central Business District (CBD), providing easy access to Sharjah city centre, Dubai, and the Northern Emirates via Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

Commitment to educational excellence

As Aljada continues its expansion, the establishment of Raffles World Academy signifies not only an investment in infrastructure but also a commitment to nurturing future generations through world-class education and community development.
