Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan—Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of Etihad Rail—officially opened the second edition of Global Rail, the region’s premier mobility and transport exhibition, at ADNEC, Abu Dhabi.

A collaboration of national and international stakeholders

Landmark partnerships unveiled

At the inauguration, Sheikh Theyab witnessed several major announcements, including a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis to launch passenger rail services in 2026. He also oversaw the signing of a “Bonded Rail Corridor” agreement linking Khalifa Port and Fujairah Terminals, and MOUs with Mermec, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Railway Transport, and RITES Limited to deepen cooperation in rail technologies, signalling systems, and international rail development.

Vision for transport innovation

Sheikh Theyab emphasized that Global Rail 2025 embodies the UAE’s commitment to becoming a central hub for global dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in the transport sector. The event also includes specialized zones for global projects, finance, and innovation, and will host both strategic and technical conferences covering high speed rail, AI, sustainability, policy, and engineering.

Empowering innovation and youth
