UAE President attends launch of 13 housing projects in Abu Dhabi

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended the announcement of agreements to develop 13 new residential communities across Abu Dhabi. These projects aim to deliver over 40,000 homes and residential plots for Emirati citizens, at a total cost of AED106 billion.

Details of the housing projects and agreements

The agreements, signed by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority and the Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) with several property developers, include the construction of 25,244 housing units over the next five years at a cost of AED94 billion. Additionally, around 14,876 residential plots will be developed at a cost of AED12 billion.

Integrated residential communities with comprehensive facilities

During the announcement at Qasr Al Shati, His Highness was briefed on the projects designed to the highest international standards. These integrated communities will feature essential services and amenities such as commercial centers, mosques, schools, parks, green spaces, and sports facilities. The developments are carefully planned to promote sustainability, family stability, and overall wellbeing.

Emphasis on housing as a national priority

His Highness affirmed that the launch of these projects underlines the housing sector’s role as a national priority, aimed at enhancing citizens' quality of life and supporting the social fabric of the UAE. He emphasised the importance of unified efforts between government bodies and the private sector to deliver housing solutions that meet the needs of Emirati families.

Attendance of senior leaders and officials

The announcement ceremony was attended by senior members of the Abu Dhabi ruling family and government officials, including His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and other prominent figures.

Expansion of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority developments

The new projects complement existing developments like the West Baniyas Housing Project and Yas Canal Housing Project. With these additions, the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority will have nearly 45,000 new homes and plots under development, all scheduled for completion by 2029.

Projects in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra Region

Six integrated residential communities in Abu Dhabi city will provide 14,444 housing units at a cost of AED 55.38 billion, developed by Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, and Modon Properties. Five communities in Al Ain will offer 10,480 units at AED 36.95 billion, in partnership with Aldar Properties, Bloom Holding, Wahat Al Zaweya Real Estate, and IMKAN Properties. In Al Dhafra, Aldar Properties will build two projects in Al Sila and Madinat Zayed with 320 homes costing AED 1.59 billion.

Leadership perspectives on housing and community stability

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, highlighted that the projects align with the President’s vision to strengthen family and social stability through quality housing that supports citizens' wellbeing. He also noted the alignment with the Year of Community initiative, promoting social cohesion.

Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, emphasized the commitment to providing sustainable, modern housing in partnership with the private sector. He noted a new map-based reservation system allowing citizens to select preferred residential areas, supporting family cohesion and community building. All new units will be allocated within two years.

Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director-General of ADPIC, affirmed that the agreements reflect Abu Dhabi’s commitment to ensuring dignified living standards, family stability, and sustainable development in line with the leadership’s vision.
