Sharjah24 - WAM: His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has visited the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed tours UAE pavilion

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed toured the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, featuring an innovative architectural design with 90 soaring palm rachis columns reaching up to 16 meters high. Inspired by the UAE’s iconic date palm, the columns were crafted from over 2 million palm fronds, showcasing the innovative reuse of natural materials. The pavilion, themed "Earth to Ether," offers an immersive, multisensory journey through the UAE's story, highlighting its cultural heritage, space exploration, healthcare advancements, and nature-based technologies.

 

Cultural exchange and national pride

During his visit, Sheikh Khaled met with the pavilion’s team, commending the efforts of national talent in fostering cultural exchange with nations worldwide. The pavilion serves as a window to the world, emphasising the UAE’s achievements while reflecting the nation's pride in its heritage and cultural identity as it pursues an ambitious future.

 

Symbolic importance of participation

His Highness Sheikh Khaled highlighted the significance of returning to Osaka for the expo, 55 years after the UAE's first participation in Expo 1970. This return symbolizes over five decades of close cooperation and strong strategic partnership between the UAE and Japan across various fields of mutual interest.

 

Event details

The UAE Pavilion participates in Expo 2025 Osaka under the theme "Earth to Ether," located within the Empowering Lives zone on Yumeshima, the artificial island hosting the event. Running from April 13 to October 13, 2025, the expo will welcome a record 158 countries and international organizations, focusing on "Designing Future Society for Our Lives."

 

Cultural programmes and engagement

Since its opening in April, the UAE Pavilion has hosted a diverse array of cultural events, including panel discussions, performances, creative workshops, and live Emirati culinary demonstrations. These offerings blend heritage and innovation, fostering meaningful cultural exchange and dialogue for a prosperous future.

 

Youth ambassadors

Visitors to the UAE Pavilion are guided by a team of 46 youth ambassadors, including 24 Emiratis, who lead guests on an immersive journey into the nation’s rich heritage and over 50 years of achievements.

 

Distinguished visitors

His Highness Sheikh Khaled was accompanied by several dignitaries, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Reem Al Hashimy, and Shihab Ahmed Al Faheem, highlighting the importance of the UAE's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka.
