Sharjah 24: The most recent issue of Kitab magazine looked at the early phases of Spanish Arab studies, covering historical periods, famous Arabists, and their contributions to preserving Andalusian history, translating Arabic writings into Spanish, and confirming manuscripts.

Interviews with renowned writers

The monthly magazine, published by the Sharjah Book Authority, had interviews with Togolese Italian author Kossi Komla Ebri, Moroccan writer and translator Lahcen Ahmama, Tunisian novelist and critic Shukri Mabkhout, , and Palestinian Jordanian novelist and illustrator Mohammad Al-Jalous.

Editorial highlights
Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority and editor-in-chief of Kitab, authored an editorial titled " “Read, and you come into view” " in the September edition, discussing Sharjah's hosting Greece as Guest of Honour during the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair from 5 to 16. Al Ameri emphasised the Sharjah Cultural Enlightenment Project, led by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, and its importance in encouraging dialogue between Sharjah, the World Book Capital 2019, and Athens, the World Book Capital 2018.

Greek Arab cultural connections

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Book Authority, underlined that hosting Greece allows Arabs and Greeks to explore common themes in stories, myths, culture, and science. Al Ameri reiterated this in his editorial, quoting Socrates' famous remark, "Speak so I may see you," and connecting it to the fair: "Read so I See You."

Global literary coverage
Issue 83 featured articles and studies on writers from Bulgaria, Romania, Tunisia, France, Spain, Brazil, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Belgium, Poland, Morocco, Algeria, Syria, Egypt, and the Netherlands, as well as book reviews in Arabic, Spanish, French, and English.

Reflections on the Arab cultural presence
Al Ameri wrote "Arab Culture:  Production and Borrowing" in the Raqim column, reflecting on Arab culture's visibility and vitality in the face of external threats, and emphasising the resilience and ongoing growth of Arab cultural efforts as a symbol of dignity and rebirth.
