His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stated that, under the guidance of the President, Ahmed Al Sayegh has been appointed as the new Minister of Health. He expressed deep appreciation to AbdulRahman Al Owais for his years of dedicated service, during which the healthcare sector witnessed significant advancement. Sheikh Mohammed noted that Al Owais will continue serving in the government as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs. He wished both ministers success in their national duties and extended best wishes to all teams serving the nation.

As part of the reshuffle, Ahmed Al Sayegh has been appointed Minister of Health and Prevention. AbdulRahman bin Mohamed Al Owais will continue in the role of Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
Ahmed Al Sayegh’s government and diplomatic roles
Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh previously served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2018. In this role, he led the ministry’s economic and commercial affairs portfolio, contributing to the country’s economic diversification strategy. He was also responsible for managing the UAE’s bilateral relations with Asian countries and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, working to deepen strategic partnerships and expand investment opportunities abroad.
Current board memberships and positions
Alongside his ministerial duties, Al Sayegh is a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). He also serves on the board of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), is Vice Chairman of Emirates Nature–WWF, and Co-Chair of the UAE-UK Business Council.
Previous leadership roles
Al Sayegh has held several senior positions across the UAE’s public and private sectors. He previously served as Chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Chairman of Aldar Properties, and Chairman of Masdar. He was also a board member of Etihad Airways Group and Mubadala Investment Company, and Vice Chairman of First Gulf Bank. Additionally, he held senior roles at ADNOC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Company.
Academic background
Ahmed Al Sayegh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States.
