Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has ordered the prize pool for the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship to be increased to AED3 million.

Supporting athletic excellence

This initiative reflects His Highness’ dedication to nurturing athletic talent and empowering athletes in a competitive environment that meets the highest professional standards.

Promoting Jiu-Jitsu as a lifestyle

The decision also highlights jiu-jitsu’s broader role in enhancing quality of life, contributing to character development, discipline, mental wellbeing, and physical fitness.

Federation chairman expresses gratitude

Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation, expressed deep appreciation for Sheikh Khaled’s continued support for the sport.

Call for greater responsibility and impact

Al Hashmi stated that this generous gesture places greater responsibility on the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s leadership to channel the support into effective programs that inspire athletes, boost skill development, and create sustainable success on both athletic and social levels.

Elevating the Championship and Abu Dhabi’s global standing

He emphasized that jiu-jitsu has evolved into a lifestyle and a public health contributor, while also strengthening sports culture across the UAE. The championship, he noted, has grown into a national initiative that reinforces Abu Dhabi’s role as a global hub for combat sports and reflects the UAE’s broader vision of promoting niche sports on the international stage.
