Saud bin Saqr underscores value of preserving national records

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, emphasised the significance of preserving the nation’s documentary record as a foundation for protecting national identity and enhancing public awareness of the UAE’s cultural and historical heritage.

Meeting with director-general of National Library and Archives

This message came during a meeting at Saqr bin Mohammed Palace, where His Highness Sheikh Saud received Dr Abdulla Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the National Library and Archives, along with several senior officials.

Strategic vision for the archives

The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah was briefed on the institution’s long-term strategic plan, aimed at preserving the UAE’s documentary legacy. He praised the National Library and Archives for serving as a key national hub dedicated to maintaining the country’s collective memory and cultural identity.

Key goals of 2023–2032 strategy

The meeting included an overview of the 2023–2032 institutional strategy. It outlined key priorities such as enhancing digital archiving technologies, launching knowledge-based initiatives, and expanding the institution’s documentation and research efforts at both local and global levels.

His Highness Sheikh Saud commended the ongoing efforts to build an advanced documentation and knowledge preservation system. He noted that investing in archival science is essential to sustainable development and in preserving the nation’s history for future generations.
