The delegation was led by Her Excellency Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Education, Culture, Media and Youth AffairsCommittee at Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC), and included Her Excellency Kulthum Saif Al Tunaiji and Her Excellency Sheikha Khalfan Althanin Alnaqbi. Huda Al Hammadi, the committee's secretary, was also present. The delegation was warmly welcomed at both clubs, where in-depth discussions were held on the clubs’ roles in promoting cultural identity and specialisation across Sharjah.
The committee began its tour at the Sharjah Chess Club for Girls, where they were received by HE Najla Al Shamsi, Chair of the club’s board, and Amina Al Mulla, the club’s Executive Director. A comprehensive meeting was held, during which the club's leadership outlined programmes focused on training girls in chess and integrating cultural and national identity into the club’s institutional framework.
Ongoing efforts to attract talent and develop skills were presented, along with achievements at both local and international levels. The club also shared its aspirations to expand participation among girls.
The committee highlighted the vital role the club plays in empowering girls through intellectual sports. It praised the use of chess as an educational and cultural tool that enhances analytical and cognitive skills. The delegation commended the high organisational standards and the club’s alignment with Sharjah’s vision of empowering women and fostering a culture of sports.
The second visit took the committee to the Sharjah Classic Cars Club, where they were welcomed by Ahmed bin Hanzal, Executive Director of the Sharjah Classic Cars Museum, and a dedicated team including Manal Al Hosani (Head of Monitoring & Marketing), Aisha Al Qassab (Head of Cultural Events & Programmes), Huda Thani (Head of Corporate Communications), Maryam Ali Ali (Public Relations Coordinator), and Badr Salem Al Ketbi (IT Coordinator).
The team presented the club’s strategy for preserving Sharjah’s mechanical and automotive heritage as part of the collective memory of the emirate. They also explained how this heritage is being transformed into educational and awareness-raising programmes, particularly those targeting youth. The club organises a wide range of cultural events, heritage displays, and community engagements.
The committee discussed future initiatives the club is planning and highlighted key support needs to ensure the sustainability of this unique cultural asset. The club was praised as a regional beacon that combines knowledge, heritage, and innovation in a structured, institutional setting.
At the conclusion of both visits, HE Sheikha Ali Alnaqbi expressed appreciation for the significant efforts made by the leadership teams of both clubs in promoting specialisation and innovation. She praised the alignment of cultural, sporting, and educational goals, noting the excellence in planning and execution and the commitment to continuous development and sustainability.
The committee members also expressed their appreciation for the quality of programmes presented and the warm reception they received. They affirmed their pride in the fruitful partnerships between the Consultative Council and institutions working on the ground, which contribute to elevating public service and achieving the aspirations of Sharjah’s residents for a brighter and more prosperous future in the field of specialised sports.
