Sharjah 24- Reuters: Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was crowned Premier League Player of the Season on Saturday following a remarkable individual campaign that helped lead the club to their second Premier League title.

Stellar season with historic numbers

Salah scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists, guiding Arne Slot's Liverpool side to the title with four games remaining. At 32, the Egyptian star is on course to win another Golden Boot and currently leads Newcastle’s Alexander Isak by five goals heading into the final matchday.

Breaking records and making history

No player has previously recorded 46 goal involvements in a standard 38-game season. Salah has the chance to break the all-time record of 47, set by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole in 42-game seasons, when Liverpool host Crystal Palace.

With six more assists than any other player, Salah is also in contention to become the first footballer to win the Golden Boot, Golden Playmaker, and Player of the Season in the same year.

Salah joins elite company

This is Salah’s second time winning the award, having previously received it in the 2017-18 season. He becomes only the fifth player to win it more than once, joining Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne. He also recently earned the Football Writers' Association Men's Player of the Year award for the third time.
