Sharjah24 - WAM: A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra on Friday, as reported by the country's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The BMKG indicated that the earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers. Fortunately, authorities confirmed that there was no tsunami risk associated with the quake.

Impact and safety

There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage following the earthquake. Indonesia's location within the Pacific Ring of Fire makes it vulnerable to frequent seismic and volcanic activity, but this particular quake did not pose a serious threat to the population.
