Soyuz MS-26 crew returns to Earth after 220-day mission

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Roscosmos cosmonauts Aleksey Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner, along with NASA astronaut Donald Pettit, returned to Earth aboard the Soyuz MS-26 spacecraft, which landed safely in Kazakhstan, according to TASS reports from the Mission Control Centre. The crew was later evacuated from the spacecraft's return module.

Mission overview

This return marks the end of the 73rd long-duration expedition, which began when Soyuz MS-26 departed from the International Space Station (ISS).

Scientific contributions and activities

Since arriving at the ISS in September 2024, the crew conducted 43 applied science experiments, performed a spacewalk, and supported the docking of one crewed and two cargo spacecraft.

Duration and distance

The mission lasted 220 days. During that time, the crew orbited Earth 3,520 times and traveled an estimated 150 million kilometers.
