Sharjah faces Al Taawoun first leg of AFC 2 semi-final

Sharjah 24: On Tuesday, Sharjah will face off against Saudi Arabia's Al Taawoun at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, Saudi Arabia. This match is the first of two semi-finals for the AFC Champions League 2 in the West Region. The team is determined to secure a good result as they aim for a chance to compete in the final of this important tournament, which has recently been updated.

Sharjah comes into this match with confidence after recently reaching the final of the President's Cup. They achieved this after winning their semi-final match against Al Jazira with a score of 3-1. 

 

Sharjah’s campaign 

In the AFC Champions League 2, Sharjah has performed well. They finished at the top of their group during the earlier stages of the tournament, earning 13 points. They then advanced past the round of 16 by overcoming Al Hussein Irbid from Jordan. In that round, they managed to win the first match 1-0 but lost the second match 0-1, which led to a penalty shootout. Sharjah triumphed in the shootout with a score of 3-0 to move on to the quarter-finals, where they faced Shabab Al Ahli. Both matches against Shabab Al Ahli ended in draws (1-1), but Sharjah won again on penalties, this time 5-4. 

 

Elite players 

The team's coach, Romanian Cosmin Olaroiu, is relying on talented players to help them succeed. Notable players include Caio Lucas and Luan Pereira, who have each scored five goals so far in the tournament.

 

Overall, Sharjah has scored a total of 16 goals throughout their journey in the competition.
