The coast guard initially reported that four bodies were discovered in the Aegean Sea. However, following a search conducted by patrol boats, three additional bodies were located, as confirmed by a spokeswoman who spoke to AFP. The ill-fated boat was carrying approximately 30 people and sank in mild weather close to the coast of neighbouring Turkey.
Among the deceased were three women and one man, the coast guard revealed. The 23 survivors, hailing from Syria and Afghanistan, were taken to a reception center for migrants in Lesbos.
