The session took place at Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and featured keynote speaker Jim Marous, owner of the Digital Banking Report. Marous explored how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the banking sector, creating opportunities and challenges due to evolving consumer expectations for engagement, dialogue, and empathy.
Marous emphasised that financial institutions need to inspire trust in consumers to drive transformation in banking. However, he warned that back-office systems must adapt to keep up with technological advances. He also praised the ‘democratisation of data’ and noted the rapid innovation driven by data and AI.
Following Marous' talk, a panel discussion featured Hana Al Rostamani, Group CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank; Abdallah Al Mansoori, Managing Partner of I3H Investment; and Feras Jalbout, Founder and CEO of Baraka. The panel discussed the challenges and opportunities of adapting to AI-driven finance, including the importance of technology, upskilling talent, and the regulatory landscape.
Abdallah Al Mansoori highlighted the opportunities for financial inclusion and AI adoption in capital markets, commending the UAE Central Bank's efforts to advance digital infrastructure. Feras Jalbout discussed how AI is shaping investment management and how it can drive wealth creation.
The Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed Ramadan session was moderated by Shatha Al Shamsi, Strategy Consultant at EY-Parthenon. The Future of Finance in the Age of Intelligence will be broadcast on 8th March at 5 pm on Abu Dhabi TV and the Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed YouTube channel.
