Sharjah 24 – AFP: The Cleveland Cavaliers delivered a commanding 142-105 victory over the New York Knicks, solidifying their lead in the Eastern Conference of the NBA.

Key performance by Donovan Mitchell

Cleveland’s standout player, Donovan Mitchell, led the charge with 27 points. Mitchell was the top scorer among six Cavaliers players who each scored ten points or more. His performance included five successful three-pointers from seven attempts, contributing to the team’s impressive 19 successful three-pointers.

Cavaliers' overall dominance

The Cavaliers outplayed the Knicks in multiple areas, including a dominant 66-38 lead under the basket and a 23-6 advantage on counterattacks. At one point, Cleveland held a 42-point lead on their way to their sixth consecutive win, improving their record to 46 wins and 10 losses.

Injury concerns for Cleveland

While Cleveland celebrated the win, there were some injury concerns. Jarrett Allen suffered a right hand injury in the third quarter, and Darius Garland took a hard fall in the first half, hitting his head on the court, though he continued playing.

Struggles for the Knicks

Despite Jaylen Brunson’s 26 points, including 16 in the first quarter, the Knicks struggled to maintain momentum. Cleveland led 77-50 at halftime, and the Knicks failed to recover in the second half. The Knicks, ranked third in the East, have yet to win any of their six games this season against top teams like Cleveland, Boston Celtics, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
