Sharjah 24 – AFP: Newcastle United secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Birmingham City to qualify for the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Early lead for Birmingham

Birmingham took an early lead with a goal from Ethan Laird, who scored just 40 seconds into the match.

Newcastle's comeback

Newcastle responded quickly, with Joe Willock and Callum Wilson scoring in the 21st and 26th minutes to give them a 2-1 lead. However, Birmingham equalized just before halftime with Tomoki Iwata's goal in the 40th minute, ending the first half 2-2.

Willock's late goal secures victory

In the second half, Willock scored his second goal in the 82nd minute, securing a 3-2 win for Newcastle and their progression to the knockout stage. The match was extended with nearly 15 minutes of stoppage time.

Newcastle's FA Cup milestone

This marks the third time in the last 19 seasons that Newcastle has reached the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Other FA Cup result

In another match, Cardiff City qualified by defeating Stoke City 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in regular and extra time.
