Sharjah24 - WAM: Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the GWU and the UAE's Permanent Committee for Human Rights launched the National Programme for Qualifying Cadres in the Women's and Girls' Rights (NPQCWGR).
The programme aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to become ambassadors advocating for women's and girls' rights and to raise societal awareness on this important issue.

Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak emphasised that human rights in the UAE are based on deeply rooted principles such as tolerance, compassion, acceptance of others, and peaceful coexistence.

She highlighted the leadership's continuous support for human rights since the establishment of the UAE, in line with the vision of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who believed in the capabilities of human cadres.

She further added that the UAE's wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to follow this deep-rooted approach, focusing efforts on achieving development goals and prosperity while safeguarding human dignity as a core factor of sustainable development. This approach has allowed the UAE to solidify its position as a secure, stable, and prosperous country and home to over 200 nationalities living in mutual respect and positive openness.

Sheikha Fatima added, "The programme is a continuation of the UAE’s significant efforts to empower women and recognise their role in realising the UAE’s vision and shaping a leading future for the country at all walks of life."

The programme aims to enhance participants' skills regarding women's and girls' rights through comprehensive training courses organised by the GWU and the UAE's Permanent Committee for Human Rights.

Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, emphasised that human rights in the UAE are based on solid foundations gleaned from Islamic principles and Emirati values, and are further reinforced through constitutional texts and related laws in line with international standards. These laws collectively guarantee human rights and freedoms.

He added that the UAE has prioritised the protection of women’s rights, contributing to the country's established reputation as a leading model in empowering women in various fields. This reflects a practical application of human rights principles, ensuring equality and justice without discrimination, and fostering a supportive environment for women in alignment with global human rights standards.

Dr. Gargash expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her continuous efforts to support and empower women, and for launching initiatives and programmes that meet their needs, safeguard their rights, and protect their interests, including this programme.

Noura Al Suwaidi, GWU's Secretary-General, indicated that since the establishment of the UAE, the leadership has placed human beings as a top priority of its strategies, policies, and development initiatives, and adopted values of tolerance, justice, and equality. The UAE has continually developed policies and legislation to protect the rights of all individuals within society, making the country a unique human model.
