Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has visited GlobalFoundries, a leading global semiconductor manufacturing company, majority owned by Mubadala Investment Company.
During the visit, Sheikh Khaled met with GlobalFoundries' executive leadership and toured the company’s key facilities. Sheikh Khaled reviewed the Innovation Centre, gaining insight into cutting-edge semiconductor advancements that provide essential technology solutions for industries such as automotive, telecommunications, and data centres.
Additionally, Sheikh Khaled visited the company’s control centre and was briefed on the sophisticated operational systems that ensure seamless semiconductor production at every stage, in alignment with the highest international standards and specifications to address the needs of various key industries.
Sheikh Khaled emphasised the UAE’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Singapore across various vital technological sectors, particularly in semiconductor manufacturing, to support efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic and technological development in areas of mutual interest between the two nations.
Mubadala invested in GlobalFoundries in 2009, and played a shaping role in the semiconductor sector, anticipating the importance and growth of chip fabrication as an enabling technology for the modern era.
GlobalFoundries has a global footprint with operations in the US, Europe and Asia, with technology that enables billions of electronic devices. GlobalFoundries’ Nasdaq IPO, on 21st October 2021, was the largest semiconductor IPO globally by market capitalisation.
