Sharjah24 – AFP: In a groundbreaking achievement, SpaceX successfully "caught" the first-stage booster of its Starship megarocket following a test flight on Sunday.
The Super Heavy booster took off from Texas and subsequently returned to the launch pad, where large "chopstick" arms connected to the launch tower securely caught the descending rocket.
Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, marked the occasion, describing it as a significant milestone for engineering. The achievement propels the company nearer to its objective of swift rocket reusability.
The company scheduled the upper stage of Starship to splashdown in the Indian Ocean. SpaceX engineers dedicated years to preparing for this achievement, involving thorough testing and the development of necessary infrastructure.
This represents an important achievement in the company's endeavour to develop rockets that can transport humans to Mars, while also supplying NASA with a lunar lander for the Artemis program.
