Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) crowned, on Sunday, the champions of "Sharjah Aquathlon", held with the participation of 300 competitors on Al Hamriyah Beach, in cooperation with the UAE Triathlon Federation and a number of sponsoring and supporting entities.
The event was attended by His Excellency Humaid Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Hamriyah Club; His Excellency Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality; Mr. Salem Al Khayal, Member of the Board of Directors of the Club; Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at SSC; and Khaled Mohammed, Head of the Events Planning and Implementation Division at the Council.
The results of the categories were as follows:
In the 750m sprint distance swim and 5K run for the nationals’ category, for men, the first was Abdullah Al Ali, the second was Mohsen Al Ali, and the third was Yousef Al Hani. For the nationals’ category, Kathlom Al Mazmi won. For the open category for men: the first was Gabor Varga, the second was Sayed Ab, and the third was Grace Taylor. For the women: the first was Charlotte Carthy, the second was Milene Mitic, and the third was Angelica Mendoza.
In the sprint distance for the men's teams: the first was Ahmed Mubarak and Yousef Al Shehhi, the second was Amer Al Bahri and Khalifa Al Nuaimi, and the third was Ibrahim Raslan and Abdul Rahman Rashad.
For the 350m super sprint distance swim and 5K run for the men's category: first Mohammed Al Yamahi, second Mansour Al Yamahi and third Hamed Al Yamahi, and for the women, Afraa Al Majar won, and the open race for men: first Adnan Al Safadi, second Jack Morales and third Jetro Igarta, and for the women: first Rebecca Silva, second Tendy Taylor and third Aline Jakobo.
In the Junior 150m swimming race and 1,5K run for the boys' category: first Alex Taylor, second Alexander Baybin and third Saif Al Yamahi, and for the girls: first Gabriel Serrano, second Danvanthi Kitty and third Al Ghala Al Shehhi.
Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi expressed his happiness with the great success achieved by the fourth edition, and said that the large turnout indicates the increased community awareness of the importance of sports and the keenness of many groups to practice sports regularly through the Council’s programmes and activities, which motivates SSC to continue organising events.
Al Doukhi thanked all the supporting and sponsoring entities and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event, such as Al Hamriyah Club, Al Hamriyah Police Station, BEEAH Group, and Sharjah Centre for Voluntary Work.
