This diversity manifests in its lakes, ponds, mudflats, salt pans, coastal sand dunes, green spaces, and beaches. Notably, Sharjah hosts the Wasit Nature Reserve in the Al Ramtha area, northeast of the city. As the only reserve within the city’s boundaries, it is considered as the green lung of Sharjah due to its vegetation cover that helps mitigate the effects of global warming and purifies the air from pollutants.
