Sharjah 24 – WAM: Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, attended the 9th Conference of Ministers of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs in Islamic Countries, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
The two-day event, which concludes today, is organised by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, under the theme "Role of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ministries in Promoting and Consolidating the Principles and Values of Moderation."
It brings together Islamic leaders from over 60 countries, including ministers, muftis, and heads of Islamic organisations.
In the second session, Dr. Al Darei highlighted the UAE's approach to promoting tolerance, describing it as part of a broader national strategy led by its leadership. He underscored the importance of early awareness and vigilance against potential threats to societal harmony and advocated for effective monitoring systems.
"Tolerance leads to positive outcomes," Dr. Al Darei stated, "and serves as a common ground where all religions and cultures can collaborate. A strong national framework is essential for fostering successful tolerance."
