Sharjah 24 – WAM: Yousef Al Balushi, UNICEF Youth Advocate, participated in a panel discussion organised by the UAE's Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) at the UN headquarters in Geneva.
The event took place on the sidelines of the 56th session of the Human Rights Council to support the ongoing discourse on the crucial role of youth in achieving sustainable development goals and promoting human rights.
During the session, Al Balushi emphasised the importance of integrating youth into global decision-making processes. He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to enhancing the role of youth in driving sustainable development and protecting human rights.
He underscored the importance of working together to provide the necessary support for youth to become active partners in building a brighter future.
The 2024 Summit of the Future, scheduled for 22nd-23rd September, aims to adopt a practical "Pact for the Future". This initiative seeks to enhance global solidarity across current and future generations. The summit's primary objectives include reaffirming commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals, and the UN Charter, and establishing a comprehensive framework that addresses sustainable development and human rights issues. A significant focus will be on the active involvement of youth in achieving these goals.
