Sharjah 24 – WAM: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the unification of the armed forces on May 6, 1976, represents a historical and key milestone that contributed to the comprehensive renaissance achieved by the UAE over decades. With this historic decision, the pillars of unity were strengthened, and the concept of unity deepened in the minds and hearts of the Emirati people.

He said, in a speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces: "Today, we celebrate the 48th anniversary of the unification of our armed forces, the defenders, supporters, and enhancers of the country's achievements. Members of our armed forces are the resilient and determined people. They are symbols of the nation's pride and strength, undertaking their tasks and responsibilities with the highest standards of efficiency, professionalism, and patriotism."

He extended his warmest congratulations to the President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the Crown Princes.

He emphasised that UAE Armed Forces are a force for good, peace, and stability, defending truth and extending a helping hand to everyone across the globe. They strengthen the GCC and Arab security and support all efforts for regional and global stability and peace. The UAE believes that security and peace are the choice of aspiring nations seeking stability, development, and the building of a prosperous future for generations to come.

He added, "Today, we proudly remember the sacrifices of the brave martyrs of our nation, who provided the finest lessons in sacrifice, dedication, and defence of the homeland and its assets. They embodied the noble humanitarian message of the UAE and its steadfast approach, calling for peace and development worldwide."

He said, "A salute of pride, appreciation, and pride to all the brave members of our armed forces. May our country continue to prosper, progress, and lead."
