Sharjah 24: Lieutenant Colonel Hani Rashid Al Dahmani, Deputy Director of the Operations Department at the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, stated that the authority carried out on Thursday a strategic field exercise in Al Mamzar area in Sharjah, in cooperation with strategic partners, with the aim of preparing to the face of events, disasters and crises.
He said: “Based on the authority’s keenness to achieve the general strategy of civil defence, which is to protect lives and property, and to achieve the strategic goal of readiness and preparedness in the face of events, disasters and crises, we decided to implement a strategic fire drill for a residential tower in Al Mamzar area in Sharjah.”
He added during special statements to Sharjah 24: “A report was received via a signal from the Aman fire detection service to the authority’s operations room, and accordingly, the relevant civil defence teams were mobilised immediately, and the emergency and public safety plan was activated by the safety officials in the tower, and the civil defence plans on how to deal with such incidents were activated."
He thanked and appreciated the Sharjah Police General Command, the local Crisis and Disaster Office in the Emirate of Sharjah, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, the Red Crescent Authority, and Sanid for their efforts in making the exercise a success, as all participating teams proved their competence in dealing with such incidents.
Concluding his statement, he called on community members to follow the security and safety requirements and instructions issued by the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority in order to preserve the safety of everyone.
