Sharjah 24: A nation’s readiness to hold close its expatriate and citizen population and encourage them equally for its healthy progress was evident at the pavilions of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality Talent Team and See Sharjah during the 8th edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival taking place from February 28 to March 5 in Expo Centre Sharjah.
A visual odyssey has been created in the Sharjah pavilion through the lens of 25 talented photographers – which include names like Anoop Basheer and Rajesh Balakrishna Menon – who have skillfully captured the essence of Sharjah, both traditional and modern. The photographs on display are a result of the #SeeSharjah campaign’s invitation to anyone over 18 years to share their photographs of Sharjah for the world to see.

The exhibition showcases the finest entries in four categories – Urban Landscape, Cultural Heritage, Nature & Scenic Beauty, and People & Daily Life. The beauty of the desert landscape, as a citizen watches the streaks of lightning on a rainy night off Al Hamriyah coast, rivals the Northern Lights in Norway. The aerial views of the Al Noor Island, the Central Souq (also known as Blue Souq), the Mleiha desert and its adrenalin-pumping adventures, fishing nets in the corniche, the architectural excellence of the Bee’ah headquarters as well as residents going about their lives – exercising, commuting, or in a mosque – illustrate Sharjah in all its quiet charm and cultural vibrancy.

Capital Abu Dhabi on frame
A talented team of photographers from the Abu Dhabi City Municipality have presented a bouquet of enriching images of the UAE capital, which leads the way in bringing glory to the country. The Louvre Abu Dhabi sits like a pearl in the waters, reminding residents that the world is their oyster. Its marina, bridges, skyscrapers, palaces and mosques come alive in the frames of Amel Al Marashda, Mohammed Farhan and Hitham Elabadla. The traditional crafts, occupation, flora and fauna, and dunes are captured in breathtaking frames by the talented team.

Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), Xposure 2024 offers an exquisite 32,888 sq metre platform that is inspired by the works of the world’s top photographers.
