Sharjah24: The General Secretariat of the Sharjah Executive Council conducted an interactive workshop over the past three weeks as part of its Government Services Development project.
The workshop was aimed at redesigning services and bringing together a number of local and federal government departments, and entities.
The workshop also came up with its future model that takes into account humanitarian aspects. The service titled, “Your condolences, our condolences” for a customer journey that takes into account the psychological state resulting from the loss of a family member.
The workshop witnessed significant participation and constructive discussions between managers and specialists from various departments and entities related to the procedures for issuing a death certificate, the prosecution’s statement, cancelling residency, burial and condolence procedures and facilitating procedures for transporting the body outside the country, all within a period of time not exceeding three days and varying according to the cause of death.
A number of Sharjah government entities and departments took part in the workshop, including Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Department of Municipal Affairs, Department of Suburbs Affairs, Department of Social Services, Roads and Transport Authority, Department of Islamic Affairs, Sharjah Digital, Sharjah City Municipality, and Sharjah Social Security Fund.
Several federal entities also took part in the workshop including the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, the Emirates Health Services, the Ministry of Justice (Sharjah Public Prosecution, the Forensic Medicine Department, and the Sharjah Shariah Court), and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, and Customs and Port Security.
The workshop was also attended by the Emirates Telecommunications Authority, Sharjah Aviation Services, and a group of customers and beneficiaries of this service.
The discussions, based on scientific and field studies, allowed the participants to identify the most prominent current service challenges and build future visions for best customer services and meeting the customers’ requirements and needs through innovative, clear-cut and quick methods.
The participating authorities agreed on future plans and initiatives that summarise all procedures in a unified step that summarises the customers’ journey by calling Sharjah Police on 999 or 998, as the Sharjah Police General Command is the main provider of the service, which will depend on digital transactions.
The concluding day of the workshop was attended by Sheikh Majid bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Head of the Suburbs Affairs Department, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department, Afaf Ibrahim Salem bin Talib Al Marri, Head of the Social Services Department, and Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi. Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, Abdullah Khalifa Yaroof Al Sabousi, Head of the Islamic Affairs Department in Sharjah, and Anwar Amin Muhammad Al Harmoudi, Head of the Sharjah Public Prosecution.
The SEC General Secretariat continues to establish a series of government workshops in order to work together to design a better customer journey and achieve the objectives of the Government Services Development project within precise steps and a specific and short period of time.
The Secretariat seeks for the laboratories to be based on thoughtful discussions of the reality of services, taking place between the public and private sectors in order to develop future visions and models for government services.
