Sharjah 24 - Reuter: Nottingham Forest defeated its host Newcastle United to a thrilling 3-1 victory today, Tuesday, in the nineteenth round of the English Premier League.
Newcastle's suffering continued after losing the third match in a row at the level of all competitions, while Nottingham recorded its first victory after seven consecutive defeats in the league, as its last victory dates back to last November 5, when it beat Aston Villa 2-0.
The first half ended in a 1-1 draw, as Swedish striker Alexander Isak scored for Newcastle in the 25th minute from a penalty kick, then New Zealand striker Chris Wood responded with an equalizer for Nottingham in the 45th minute.
In the second half, Chris Wood played the starring role and scored the second and third goals for Nottingham in the 53rd and 60th minutes to obtain a hat-trick.
With this result, Nottingham raised its score to 17 points in sixteenth place, while Newcastle's score stopped at 29 points in seventh place.
