Sharjah's 'King' Rules Supreme in Emirates Championship

Sharjah24: Men's Elite category at the Emirates Championship. They were crowned champions of the tournament exclusively dedicated to Emirati athletes, which took place at the sports hall of Sharjah Sports Club in Al Hazana.
The King’s athletes earned the title by securing a total of 8 medals across all weight categories they participated in. This impressive haul included 5 gold medals and 3 silver medals. The championship witnessed the participation of 146 players from 12 different clubs representing the nation.

Furthermore, the club's athletes showcased their prowess by securing the second position in the Youth and Junior categories. The Youth category yielded 4 medals, comprising 2 gold and 2 silver, while the Junior category amassed 6 medals, including 2 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze. 

The King’s fighters demonstrated outstanding performance, accumulating a total of 156 points in the overall standings and securing 24 coloured medals. These achievements occurred in the championship that precedes the selection of the national team, which is gearing up for participation in the Fujairah International Championship and the Arab Championship in succession.

In celebration of this accomplishment, Engineer Suleiman Abdul Rahman Al Hajri, a board member and head of individual sports at Sharjah Sports Club, extended congratulations to the team. He underscored that the success was a result of the collective effort and dedication of the entire system, encompassing players, administrative personnel, and the coaching staff. He commended the players for their exemplary performance and high spirits during the championship.

Al Hajri clarified that the Elite Championship for Emirati players served as an evaluative platform for all athletes to compete for the honour of joining the national team—a pinnacle achievement symbolising pride in representing their country and upholding its emblem.
