The festival began with a mesmerising performance of " Al Namous" a play written by Sultan Al Neyadi and directed by Mohammed Al Ameri. The play was presented by the Sharjah National Theatre, showcasing the incredible talent of some of the country's most renowned theatre artists.
The play embodies the Emirati desert environment and emphasises the significance of protecting the land and reputation, hence fostering a life of dignity within society. Following the conclusion of the show, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah met with the actors and other individuals involved in the theatrical play. He praised their exceptional performances, which effectively conveyed the play's concept to the audience. He expressed his well wishes for success and prosperity to everyone.
The festival showcases the involvement of five theatrical productions from various countries including the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Mauritania. In addition, it is a gathering of numerous theatre artists from various Arab countries who have come together to participate in this festival.
The cultural event's venue was created to resemble a desert village, covering a vast area in Al Kihaif region. The performance stage was arranged in a picturesque setting, nestled amidst sand dunes, valleys, and tents, equipped with all the necessary audio and visual equipment.
The festival’s programme offers a diverse range of activities that aim to foster knowledge sharing, insights, and encourage communication and interaction among participants and guests.
Attending the opening ceremony alongside His Highness were Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development; Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs; Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police General Command; Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Culture; Ali Salim Al Midfa, the Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority, Hamad Ali Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), and several other high-ranking officials, heads of government departments, and a gathering of artists.
